Ecological Survey
Describing our natural habitats.....
“‘National Biodiversity Targets’, ‘sustainability policies’ and the importance of preserving our natural inheritance are important to both central / local government and private organisations.”
Traditional ecological surveys are necessary part of many activities and we are happy to supply these as we have extensive experience of most vegetation and soil survey techniques including Phase I and Phase II National Vegetation Classification Surveys and have particular expertise in:
However the tradition ecological surveys, which are entirely field based can be expensive and time consuming. Utilising the new GI data sets of air photography, satellite imagery and 3D height data allows us to produce a higher quality survey at a reduced cost.
Our skilled image interpretation allows us to target areas of particular significance which can then be field surveyed in highly detailed way, giving more time to the areas worthy of attention.
These methods can also be used strategically over much larger areas to produce generic classifications.
Monitoring of ecological value of sites can also be greatly enhanced by combining skills in GIS interpretation and ecology.
We are sure you will be please when you find out how much difference using these methods can make. Please get in touch.
