Our staff will have spent a lot of time out of the office over May/June as part of our earth observation projects in Wales, Scotland and Ireland. Using satellite imagery, aerial photography and ancillary map data, Environment Systems are working with various government departments helping them to extract information from imagery in support of their environmental baselining and monitoring activities. One of the key benefits of this approach is that you do not have to visit every square inch on the ground – but you do have to visit some of it; both to ‘get your eye in’ and to collect data for assessing accuracy.
Places visited so far include the Monadhliath Mountains in Scotland, Galway in Ireland and lots of Wales!
