Supporting Sustainable Development in Wales

The Welsh Assembly Government has launched a new tool to look at the sustainable availability of aggregates in Wales.

They have taken an innovative approach. Instead of looking to source aggregates for development based purely on demand, regardless of where the aggregates are found; this project looks at where aggregates are available within Wales and seeks to utilise the most suitable source closest to the proposed development.

A GIS based tool was developed which can identify where in Wales different type of aggregates can be found. Using the tool will help officials in the Welsh Assembly Government achieve their objectives to achieve sustainable development.

Working with Enviros Consulting, Environment Systems are very pleased to have undertaken the technical GIS development of the tool and to be part of such an important piece of work for the benefit of Wales.
